This was one way to start the new year

I don't know about everyone else, but here in the Kranendonk home we started the year off with a big bang. A stinky big bang.  The city sewer lines got clogged and backed up into our basement. After I took my shoes off I walked down to my room in my socks and got to be the lucky winner to find the water.  Those were my favorite socks thank you very much and they were brand new.  Now they are in the garbage can along with our old carpet, bathroom tile, book shelf, and many other items from our family room and under the stairs. Luckily we don't have to replace these things the city has to where this was their fault.  The Dad works at the water department so all his buddies got to come over to our house and we got to meet them. Turns out the sewer was clogged down the street and around the corner.

Poor Joey had to be boarded and we now look like the hoarders off of Oprah. In the clean up man's words we had to move The Dad's "thousand books" upstairs.  Thankfully the stench is gone but no thank you to blocking the downstairs off AND THEN telling us we can't go down there.  With my bedroom being down there, (luckily no water or damage) all my stuff was there and I had to come back up to school without most of my stuff. But I am very thankful to be back up at school where I don't have to deal with the mess :) I'm sorry Mom, The Dad, and Chloe that you have to stay there. Good Luck.
This sure was a very different beginning to a new year.... Lets hope the rest of it is better.

  1. Wow?! I still can't believe that happened. The way you write makes it sound so incredibly funny. I love the way you write Amelia. I am so sad that happened. What a mess! Hooray for new carpet!

  2. I know! While Phil and I were helping them move everything upstairs I just kept telling Dad that this was like Christmas to me! I love helping out with this kind of stuff! And I can't wait to see how it will look when it's all finished. But I guess Dad didn't feel like it was a great Christmas present like me!

  3. That picture is one of the most tragic pictures I've seen in a long time. You all are good sports!
